Transitions Group

Transitions is a faith-sharing and adult religious education group for men and women that meets one evening per month. The group’s facilitator is our parishioner, Mary D. Aun, LCSW, who is a lifelong Catholic holding graduate level degrees in both Adult Religious Education and Social Work.

Using themes that mirror the transitions from one liturgical season to the next, the group explores different topics each month and shares reflection around their common beliefs. If you decide to participate, you can expect to sing a hymn, hear a reading, see a film, listen to poetry, pray for participants’ special intentions, learn a little theology, listen to a guest speaker, explore the weekend Scriptural readings, and/or share your own story. Most of each session is devoted to discussion in groups of two or three people. Unlike therapeutic groups, the rules of confidentiality do not apply because participants are encouraged to share with others what they’re learning about their faith. If you speak to someone who participates in transitions, you’ll hear about the support they’ve felt, the information they’ve gained and the inspiration they’ve experienced listening to their fellow believers share their faith lives.

As the Church transitions from season to season and from year to year, this group can be a time and space to experience anew your relationship with Christ and with others who are also on the journey.
